Subsurface Work Processes and Technologies to Shorten Cycle Time on Major Deepwater Developments, Angola Block 14
This talk will focus on how ChevronTexaco has used a systematic work process aligned around a partner engagement process and CVX planning processes to achieve stakeholder agreement and consensus on five large discoveries in deepwater Angola. We will review the evolving subsurface evaluation technologies used and methodologies to effectively communicate the meaning and impact of the results to a diverse multi-partner, multi-cultural audience. To successfully move a large developments forward consisting of multiple reservoirs in a deepwater environment developing subsurface products and standardized evaluation processes and planning is critical to the approval/consensus process. Using standard recognized outputs from complex evaluation tools and methodologies (such as P50 OOIP base maps, typical single well profiles, zone recovery factors, etc.) are important deliverables that can help achieve faster stakeholder understanding and consensus. We will review how we have deployed these lessons learned to shorten the approval cycle time and improve quality as we progress towards development.
