A Practical Approach to Greenhouse Gas Management in the Oil Industry
Greenhouse gas management has emerged from being an issue of potential long range concern to becoming a key issue in hydrocarbon resource development planning. The oil and gas industry worldwide has seen increasing public concern and accompanying regulatory demands ranging from the Kyoto Protocol to national, regional and state level requirements. These demands force new developments to be concerned about managing emissions, developing low-cost abatement options, considering offsets and trading, and otherwise understanding the potential impacts of ghg management costs on potential project developments. In this presentation we examine to types of management tools needed to address various aspects of this issue from emissions measurement to portfolio adjustment.
