Processes and Modeling of Deep-Water Flows I (SEPM)
|
This session examines the influence of sediment-gravity flow mechanics on submarine landscape evolution via both deposition and erosion. Particular attention is given to the process continuum between turbidity currents and debris flows - including flows which evolve to share characteristics of both. Presentations will include analyses using outcrop and core data, seismic and seafloor data, and physical and numerical models

Reservoir Connectivity: Key to Successful Development (AAPG/SEPM)
|
We will focus upon geoscience and related reservoir engineering factors which impact reservoir connectivity, compartmentalization, and segmentation in deep water reservoirs worldwide. Reservoir architecture and structural factors as it impacts expected production trends, fluid flow pathways, early gas and water gas breakthrough will be covered. Outcrop analogs for subsurface reservoirs are also expected to be a topic for the session

Deep Time Climates: Their Relevance to Climate Change and Value to Petroleum Exploration (SEPM/AAPG)

The geologic record gives us the means to understand natural climate variability, providing context and perspective for present and future climate changes. We examine climate change from the context of deep time. What were the timescales of the change, how widespread and persistant was the change, what did it look like, and what caused it?

•Benefits of automated techniques
•Insights from 3-D seismic that supersede conventional ideas about structural styles, fault dimensional data, and structural timing

New Approaches to Reservoir Characterization and Modeling I (AAPG)
|
This session addresses recent advances in siliciclastic and carbonate reservoir characterization and 3-D reservoir modeling. The main focus is on methods to characterize and quantify facies, lithology, and petrophysical properties based on varied data sets (subsurface, outcrop-based statistics, etc.)
